Before launching WeCreate Associates Ltd, I’ve spent over 22 years working in all areas of media, particularly broadcasting and pay-tv, in the UK and internationally. Most recently, I led the 3,000 programme makers of BBC Production, the world’s largest TV production business. Prior to that, I delivered the turn-around of Travel Channel Media (USA), growing profits and revenues despite the global economic downturn. As the Chief Creative Officer, BBC Production, I was the creative leader of the business, spending £350M pa producing global hits such as Dr Who, Strictly Come Dancing, Natural History, Ab Fab and Top Gear, along with many of the biggest shows for UK audiences.

In 2012, my leadership team stemmed a long-term trend of declining business levels, with an upturn projected for 2013. Creatively, BBC Production continue to win honours, and secured one-third of all the Programme BAFTA’s in 2012.​ ​I have built, managed and led high-performance teams creating innovative products, services and business models. I understand the joys and frustrations of leadership. I understand the pressure to do more with less, and to make ‘plan’.

As President/General Manager of Travel Channel Media (USA), I led the creative and financial turn-around of the network, and introduced an enterprise-wide approach to idea development which led to break-out hits such as Man v. Food. I also led the network’s shift to digital, creating location-aware mobile apps, introducing social gaming, proactively seeding the blogosphere with viral content and creating a digital production studio as early as 2007. My period leading Travel Channel Media (2005-09) saw revenues grow by over 50% with distribution up by 20% to 98 millions homes. We delivered 13 successive months of TV ratings growth and record quarterly ratings in Q4’08, Q1’09 and Q2’09. Our website traffic for Q1’09 rose to a record 2M monthly UV’s, up over 100% y-o-y, and my stewardship of Travel Channel Media culminated in a JV transaction, valuing the enterprise at £986M.

I speak at many conferences and events, have made the Industry ‘Top 100′ lists for Cablefax, Broadcast magazine and Media Guardian newspaper, as well as the UK’s BlackPower list and Cablefax’s Most Influential Minorities in Cable. I am a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Royal Television Society, and my other interests include sport, films and current affairs. I’m married with three children and live in London.
